ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Subsistence is recruiting for a Research Analyst 1/2 located in Anchorage, Alaska.
About the RoleA permanent seasonal position that supports subsistence research projects. The incumbent will be responsible for data entry, quality assurance, analysis of quantitative and spatial data, filling data requests, creating tables and figures for publication, and obtaining information to complement collected data.

The Subsistence Section gathers, quantifies, evaluates, and reports information on traditional uses of Alaska’s fish and wildlife resources.

Working EnvironmentPosition located at the Anchorage office (333 Raspberry Rd) with regular interaction with colleagues and agencies. Work involves complex data entry, detailed survey review, coding, quality assurance, and assistance with data organization and analysis. Seasonal 11 months per year; limited hybrid remote work after one year of employment.
Responsibilities- Data entry and quality assurance.
- Assist with analysis of quantitative and spatial data using R, Python, and Esri ArcGIS.
- Fill internal and external data requests.
- Create tables and figures for publication in Excel and R.
- Obtain information from public and internal sources to enhance subsistence research.
- Analysis and Assessment: use IT to access, collect, analyze, maintain, disseminate data and information.
- Problem Solving: identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, generate alternatives, and make recommendations.
- Quality Assurance: review and verify data integrity.
- Research: experience in research or statistical analysis.
- Technical Competence (for level
2): evaluate technical information and advise others.
- Data analysis and spatial data tools (R, Python, ArcGIS).
- Data entry and reporting.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical reasoning.
