Anthropic Fellows Program Overview

The Fellows Program is designed to foster AI research and engineering talent. Fellows will primarily use external infrastructure to work on an empirical project aligned with our research priorities, with the goal of producing a public output such as a paper submission.

• 4 months of full-time research
• Direct mentorship from Anthropic researchers
• Access to a shared workspace in either Berkeley, California or London, UK
• Connection to the broader AI safety and security research community
• Weekly stipend of $3,850 USD / £2,310 GBP / CAD 4,300 (benefits vary by country)
• Funding for compute (≈$15k/month) and other research expenses

Develop and conduct empirical research projects aligned with Anthropic’s priorities, produce deliverables (e.g., research papers or code releases), collaborate with mentors and peers, and communicate results clearly.

• Fluent in Python programming
• Strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics
• Motivation to ensure AI is safe and beneficial for society
• Interest in empirical AI research and desire for a full-time role at Anthropic
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments
• Strong communication and rapid implementation skills
• Optional: background in economics, social sciences, or cybersecurity related to specific work streams
• Experience in areas of research or engineering relevant to the chosen workstream

Base stipend: $3,850 USD / £2,310 GBP / CAD 4,300 per week for 40 hours per week over 4 months, with possible extension.

• Must have work authorization in the US, UK, or Canada and be located in that country during the program.
• No visa sponsorship provided; candidates must independently obtain or possess full-time work authorization.
• Program run for 4 months full-time. Remote work allowed in US, UK, or Canada as needed.
