Biology Research Scientist – Remote

Contract position with compensation in the range of $50–$70/hr typical workload is 10–20 hrs/week. This is a remote, flexible engagement with an immediate start available.

Overview

Verify protein target assignments in large-scale bioactivity databases (ChEMBL, BindingDB) to support model-driven drug discovery pipelines. Review primary literature and patents to assess Uni Prot . This role involves science-first, high-judgment work with a focus on data quality and reproducibility.

Responsibilities
  • Verify protein target assignments in large-scale bioactivity databases (ChEMBL, BindingDB) to support model-driven drug discovery pipelines
  • Work directly with primary literature and patents to assess Uni Prot
  • Collaborate in a flexible, fully remote environment with researchers building next-generation discovery systems
  • Engage in 1–2 month engagements with strong likelihood of extension
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure data integrity and traceability
  • Open to BA/BS, MS, and PhD-level scientists across experience levels
Requirements
  • Hold a degree in pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or chemical biology with relevant industry, drug discovery, or CRO experience
  • Currently bench-active in a research scientist or associate scientist capacity
  • Hands-on experience with binding or functional assays (SPR, TR-FRET, radioligand binding, kinase assays, GPCR functional assays, IC50/Ki/KD)
  • Working fluency with Uni Prot and adjacent workflows such as SAR support, HTS, target validation, or biochemical profiling
  • Ability to read primary literature critically, classify errors using structured taxonomies, and write concise, evidence-grounded scientific notes
  • Familiarity with ChEMBL, BindingDB, or Pub Chem is a strong plus
  • Background in selectivity profiling, counter screening, or agonist/antagonist pharmacology distinctions is advantageous
