Associate User Researcher; San Diego

Whova is seeking an Associate User Researcher to join our highly collaborative Product Team based in San Diego, CA. As an Associate User Experience Researcher, you’ll have the chance to make a huge impact on the company’s success, driving the qualitative and quantitative research that is the foundation for brand new products/features as well as product improvements. The ideal candidate will be driven by strong user empathy, innate curiosity, and knowledge of research methodologies.

You’ll partner closely with other researchers, product managers, and product analysts to deliver insights that drive the company’s product roadmap.

• Collaborate closely with product managers to identify, define and deliver meaningful insights about product opportunities.
• Lead user-centered research throughout the product development process, using a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Plan, design and execute research studies and experiments aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include defining research questions and opportunities, research methods, participant recruiting, survey/interview design, results synthesis, presentations.
• Facilitate group discussions and brainstorming sessions amongst team members and project stakeholders to ensure alignment.
• Generate actionable insights for product features and concepts and communicate to diverse audiences through effective written documents and presentations.

• BA/BS or master's degree in Engineering, Cognitive Science, or other data or research-centric field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience conducting end-to-end user research studies: planning, recruitment, execution, analysis and delivery.
• Ability to translate product team requests and needs into researchable questions in a rigorous and valid way.
• Ability to reflect on what went well/not so well in each research project, embracing a growth mindset to help the team improve processes and communication.
• An innate curiosity and drive to dig deep into (sometimes vague) research questions and problems to uncover new opportunities.
• A ‘can do’ spirit combined with high energy and a positive attitude.
• Effective written and verbal communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
• Self-starter who doesn’t hesitate to proactively approach in order to learn fast.

• Salary: $50K – $70K annual salary, based on experience in user experience research.
