$35-55/hr Remote Freelance STEM
About the RoleWe're looking for chemistry experts to help evaluate and improve AI systems working with advanced scientific content. Your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI understands, reasons through, and communicates complex chemistry — from undergraduate fundamentals to graduate-level problem solving.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your academic background to one of the most exciting technological frontiers of our time, working alongside leading AI research teams without leaving your home.
What You'll Do- Design challenging, rigorous chemistry problems to test AI reasoning and performance across domains including chemical engineering, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and more
- Develop clear, step-by-step solutions that demonstrate precise scientific logic
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy, depth, and quality of reasoning
- Identify gaps, misconceptions, or errors in how AI approaches chemistry problems
- Collaborate with researchers to refine and improve benchmarks spanning undergraduate to Master's-level content
- Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule
- Currently pursuing or holding a Master's degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across advanced chemistry domains
- Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and rigor
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- No prior AI experience required — we'll get you up to speed
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or academic assessment design
- Familiarity with AI tools or large language models
- Background spanning multiple chemistry sub-disciplines
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects with top research labs and industry-leading teams
- Fully remote and flexible — set your own hours and work from anywhere
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
- Contribute to meaningful work that advances the frontier of scientific AI
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
