Archaeologist
The Archaeologist position will provide cultural resource program support for major utility companies in California. The role may involve fieldwork but will largely focus on coordinating environmental reviews, staffing field projects, authoring or overseeing the preparation of cultural resources reports, obtaining and maintaining agency cultural resources permitting, and acting as the point of contact for client cultural resources staff and subconsultants.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in fieldwork and technical writing, and an interest in expanding these skills in a collaborative team environment.
Position can be based out of ICF's Los Angeles, Irvine or San Diego offices with the option to work remote or hybrid from office and home.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support field efforts in southern and central California as needed, including short‑term travel and work under all weather conditions.
- Serve as lead author for survey and monitoring reports.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with ICF staff, clients, and subconsultants.
- Meet deadlines, track concurrent ongoing tasks, and produce quality work.
- Demonstrate the ability or interest to lead cultural resources tasks, including fieldwork and report deliverables.
- Master's degree in Archaeology or a related field.
- More than 2 years of experience in cultural resources management.
- More than 2 years of experience conducting field visits primarily in southern and central California.
- Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
- Familiarity with California cultural resources and the associated regulatory environment.
- Fieldwork skills including pedestrian and subsurface survey, site recordation, testing, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Proficiency with computers, smart devices, data entry in application interfaces, and use of GPS technology (e.g., ESRI Collector, Survey 123, or Field Maps).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
$60,967.00 - $
LocationCalifornia Remote Office (CA99). The position may also be based out of Los Angeles, Irvine or San Diego offices.
