Position: Research Projects Coordinator (TEMP)

Research Technician Intermediate (Research Project Coordinator)

The Research Technician Intermediate (Research Project Coordinator) will work with the Principal Investigator (Dr. Lizbeth Benson) to assist in coordination of the day-to-day operations of research projects within the Data Science for Dynamic Intervention Decision-Making Center, Survey Research Center (SRC) and Institute for Social Research (ISR) at the University of Michigan.

Responsibilities include coordination various research activities, supervising, training and scheduling research assistants, scheduling participants, overseeing and contributing to data collection and data management, ensuring research compliance and preparing progress reports. This role involves strong project coordination and team communication skills and requires close interaction with research assistances, participants, and the Principal Investigator.

Key research projects currently pertain to optimizing personalized feedback data visualizations for interventions in domains including smoking cessation, and emotion regulation skills in the transition to parenthood.

Candidates must be able to start in-person, within 2 weeks of the job offer.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations for research studies, working in-person only at the Institute for Social Research
  • Develop and track project progress, schedules and deliverables to ensure timely completion of research milestones across multiple studies
  • Organize lab meetings and prepare progress reports and meeting agendas for PI
  • Train, supervise, and support undergraduate research assistants
  • Manage IRB submissions and ensure ongoing compliance with human subjects research protocols
  • Oversee participant recruitment, scheduling, and data collection (including interviews, co-design sessions, and ecological momentary assessment protocols)
  • Organize, maintain, and aid in the development of study materials, protocols, and research documentation
  • Manage data workflows, including data cleaning and coding
  • Contribute to manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Information, Public Health, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of prior research experience in a behavioral science lab or equivalent experience
  • Flexibility in schedule, including weekdays, evenings and weekends as needed for data collection
  • Exceptional organizational skills, communication skills and attention to detail
  • Prior experience with research compliance (e.g., IRB)
  • Experience with data collection
  • Ability to work with human study participants
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to effectively incorporate feedback
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills, Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience training, supervising, or mentoring research assistants or team members
  • Experience managing or coordinating research projects or teams
  • Experience designing or evaluating mobile health (mHealth) or digital behavior change interventions
  • Familiarity with just-in-time adaptive interventions (JITAIs) and intensive longitudinal data (e.g., ecological momentary assessments)
  • Knowledge of persuasive technology frameworks
  • Proficiency in the R statistical platform
Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.

Work Locations

The job will typically occur onsite in Ann Arbor, MI. during standard business hours (9am-5pm), applicants must also be available weekdays, evenings, and weekends on an as needed basis for data collection.
