The Office of Research which also includes:
The College of Engineering (CoEng), College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP), Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), Community Technical College (CTC), Business Enterprise Institute (BEI), and the School of Education (SoEd) are seeking qualified candidates to join a Research Professional hiring pool. Selected applicants will be considered for Research Professional positions as project needs arise across these academic and research units.

Research Professionals contribute to both applied and fundamental scientific research across a range of disciplines. Work may involve participation in laboratory, field, or office-based research activities, with responsibilities focused on the collection, management, analysis, and synthesis of complex research data. Individuals in this role also support the preparation of technical reports, manuscripts, and other research outputs, while ensuring accuracy, organization, and integrity of research documentation and datasets.

This role involves close collaboration with principal investigators and multidisciplinary research teams, with opportunities to contribute to study design, implementation, and dissemination of research findings. Some assignments may include fieldwork or specialized data collection depending on project requirements.

Successful candidates will bring a strong background in a relevant scientific or technical field, along with experience in research methods, data analysis, or experimental work. Research Professionals should be detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of working effectively in both independent and collaborative settings within evolving research environments.

This is a pooled recruitment position. Eligible applicants will remain under consideration and may be contacted as suitable project opportunities arise.

Knowledge of research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, and their application in data collection, analysis, and reporting to include understanding data accuracy standards, analytical procedures for identifying trends and supporting decisions, and standard reporting and documentation practices. Familiarity with computerized systems, databases, and common software applications for data management and analysis is also necessary.

Skills include accurately collecting, organizing, and verifying data; using computer tools such as spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software; and performing basic data analysis to identify trends and summarize findings. Skills also include preparing clear and accurate reports and maintaining organized and reliable records.

Abilities include interpreting and applying research and analytical methods to organize and present information, working with detailed or complex data while maintaining accuracy, and communicating findings effectively in written and verbal formats. Additional abilities include exercising sound judgment, adapting to new systems and changing priorities, and working independently or as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Research Professional 1 (entry level):
    Bachelor’s degree + 6 months relevant experience (or equivalent training/experience)
  • Research Professional 2:
    Bachelor’s degree + 1 year relevant experience
  • Research Professional 3 (mid level):
    Master’s degree + 2 years postgraduate-level experience
  • Research Professional 4 (senior level):
    Master’s degree + 4 years postgraduate-level experience
  • Research Professional 5 (expert/lead level):
    PhD + 4 years postgraduate-level experience
Position Details

This is a part-time, non-exempt temporary position. New hires will be placed on the Temporary Salary Schedule at a Grade and Step determined by education, experience, and training.
