Responsibilities*- Lab maintenance including ordering reagents/supplies, safety training/inspection, equipment upkeep/repair, waste management, and organizing social events in the lab.
- Maintain mouse colonies and genotyping mice with tail DNA.
- Feed mice with custom-made diets. Dissect mice and measure body weight and metabolites in serum and tissue samples. Prepare/stain tissue sections for lipid or collagen content.
- Create plasmid constructs for in vitro and in vivo manipulation of target genes.
- Teach undergrad students a variety of molecular techniques including gel making, DNA/RNA extraction, reverse transcription, subcloning, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and immunoblotting.
- B.A. in Biology
- 1-2 years of lab research experience
- In-depth knowledge of molecular biology, metabolism, and mouse genetics
- Demonstrated excellent technical capabilities in handling experiments in both molecular biology and animal studies independently
