Research Assistant/Associate, Biology
This is a part‑time temporary position in which a research technician will be drawn from a college pool to work on sponsored projects. The role involves field work, data collection, data entry, and data analysis, and may require remote or extreme location work.
Responsibilities- Collect, synthesize, archive, and distribute data, specimens, and knowledge.
- Use computerized spreadsheets and databases to enter and manipulate data.
- Produce charts and graphs to display data trends.
- Interpret data results for reporting.
- Work in remote locations, sometimes in extreme conditions.
- Coordinate and lead the activities of other team members.
- High school graduation and 6 months of relevant field experience (Research Technician 1).
- 1 year of relevant college coursework and 1 year of relevant experience (Research Technician 2).
- 2 years of relevant college coursework and 2 years of relevant experience (Research Technician 3).
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 4 years of experience (Research Technician 4).
This position is part‑time, non‑exempt, temporary, and part of a pooled role. New hires will be placed on the temporary salary schedule; the grade is determined by education and experience. The University of Alaska requires employees to work on‑site unless a position is specifically advertised as eligible for hybrid or remote work.
