DescriptionData Manager, Micronutrient Biomarkers Initiative (MNBI) The Micronutrient Biomarkers Initiative (MNBI) is a newly formed global initiative to strengthen biomarker‑based surveillance for micronutrient status and infectious diseases to inform public health policy and targeted interventions. MNBI aims to integrate data on micronutrient status, inflammation, and infection across multiple countries, leveraging existing platforms, local laboratory capacity, and country‑owned surveillance systems.
MNBI is supported by a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and three Technical Working Groups (Data and Epidemiology; Systems; Laboratory). The SAB secretariat is housed at Makerere University in Uganda, and Emory University plays a central role in data harmonization, analysis, and methodological oversight, working closely with Makerere University and country teams.
Position Summary
MNBI seeks a Data Manager to support data harmonization, management, and analysis across participating countries. The position is flexible (approximately 50% FTE, depending on experience) for a two‑year term, with a strong preference for candidates already within the Emory system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate harmonization of biomarker, nutrition, inflammation, and infection data across MNBI participating countries through the Data and Epidemiology Technical Working Group.
- Provide statistical and analytic support to ensure methodological rigor, reproducibility, and consistency across MNBI analyses and outputs.
- Establish and maintain secure data housing and file‑sharing platforms, consistent with data governance and access policies.
- Adapt and extend existing BRINDA data architecture (including data dictionaries, file structures, and analytic conventions) to MNBI datasets, including migration to a new data environment housed at the Task Force for Global Health.
- Collaborate closely with MNBI Secretariat, country teams, and SAB members to support analytic plans, reporting, and publications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, and three years of experience in processes and standards related to data, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience with relational database management systems such as, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, informatics, or related discipline.
- Proficiency in SAS or R. Experience managing and analyzing complex, multi‑country public health datasets, macros to process and output readable tables and graphics
- Familiarity with biomarker, nutrition, or survey data, including complex survey design(experience with BRINDA or similar initiatives preferred).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary and international teams.

This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
