Research Staff Team Member

The CASCADE lab (Collaborative Advancements in Science: Cancer, Disparities, and the Environment), led by Drs. Leigh Pearce and Alison Mondul in the Dept. of Epidemiology and Center for Midlife Science at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, seeks a research staff team member who will be an integral member of our research group working on a variety of projects including multiple field studies.

We are currently recruiting into MI-CARES (Michigan Cancer and Research on the Environment Study) and MI-SOCIAL (Michigan Surviving Ovarian Cancer -- Innovation, Advancement and Living Well), among other cancer studies. MI-CARES is a general population cohort study of environmental factors and a range of outcomes which will ultimately include at least --49-year-old Asian, Black, Latin, Middle Eastern and North African, Native American, and White participants living in Michigan.

SOCIAL is focused on the survivorship experiences of people living with ovarian cancer. This research team member will lead one or more research projects, overseeing project staff, managing day-to-day details of study management, monitor study progress and contribute to writing study reports and publications.

Note:

This is a one-year term limited position. There is the possibility of renewal based on availability of funds and favorable performance.

• Develop a research stream related to cervical cancer prevention.
• Develop and implement participant recruitment strategies to meet project milestones. Develop and implement community engagement strategies, including, but not limited to, webinars, newsletters, lay communication materials, and social media content.
• Oversee student recruitment and data collection to ensure all study procedures are completed. This includes, but is not limited to, supervising staff who respond to emails, manage biospecimen collection, contact participants to increase data collection, and process incentive payments.
• Perform project management tasks including, but not limited to, coordinating activities with other groups across campus, funding agencies, and external collaborators.
• Provide supervision to students and research staff, including training and oversight for participant recruitment, data collection, analyses, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with research group leadership on long-range project planning, grant writing and budget monitoring. Prepare research documents, including IRB/data use agreements and progress reports to grant funders.
• Conducts data collection activities, analyses and interprets results. Prepares, submits and delivers presentations at conferences and other forums. Writes manuscripts.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Master's degree in public health/epidemiology with 7+ years of research experience that is directly applicable to this position.
• Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously, work independently and as a member of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and orally.
• Experience preparing IRB applications and amendments.

• PhD in public health/epidemiology or related field of study.
