Position Overview

We, the leading AI data lab for training frontier models and evaluating AI agents, is seeking a Chemistry Expert (PhD) to contribute advanced subject‑matter expertise to cutting‑edge AI training initiatives. In this remote contractor role, you will apply your deep chemistry knowledge to help train next‑generation AI systems, directly shaping how models learn, reason, and perform through high‑quality, real‑world expertise. No prior AI experience is required;

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce authoritative, accurate, and well‑explained responses to advanced chemistry queries aimed at AI model improvement, prioritizing clarity and depth over rubric‑based scoring
  • Review and evaluate chemistry data, questions, and solutions to ensure scientific accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current best practices
  • Develop comprehensive explanations and justifications across a wide array of chemical concepts, spanning foundational and specialized areas of chemistry
  • Create exemplary “golden responses” that set benchmarks for future model outputs, ensuring consistency and reliability in training data
  • Document context and rationale behind answers to support model interpretability and facilitate future annotation efforts
  • Collaborate with annotation leads and project managers to refine requirements and maintain high standards for response quality
  • Participate in remote discussions and workshops to clarify project objectives and maintain alignment across the contributor community
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Advanced Chemistry Knowledge: PhD in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field with robust expertise in both foundational and advanced topics
  • Scientific Writing: Demonstrated ability to produce clear, precise, and authoritative written explanations of complex chemistry concepts
  • Verbal Communication: Proven capability to articulate intricate chemistry concepts with precision in spoken form
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision with a steadfast commitment to scientific accuracy and methodological rigor
  • Educational Content Development: Experience developing, reviewing, or publishing scientific, technical, or educational chemistry materials (such as research articles, curricula, industry reports, or peer reviews)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with multiple sub‑disciplines within chemistry (organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, materials science, biochemistry, etc.) and the ability to adapt explanations for diverse audiences
  • Experience with AI, data annotation, or digital content development projects
  • Strong collaboration skills, particularly in remote or cross‑functional team environments
  • Track record of peer‑reviewed publications or recognized contributions to the chemistry field
