This position requires full-time in-office presence for up to six months or longer depending on the successful completion of the probationary period. Following probation, the role will remain primarily office-based, with limited work-from-home flexibility available. Job Summary
The Behavioral Sleep Medicine Laboratory (P.I. Kelly Baron, PhD, MPH ) is recruiting a full-time research manager to oversee our NIH funded research study examining sleep and health outcomes, including studies of sleep interventions and sleep health equity. The research manager will be responsible for overseeing the studies in the lab including managing lab personnel activities, overseeing regulatory approval, assisting with purchasing, and study operations, in addition to participation in study operations including recruitment activities and the conduct of study assessments.
Opportunities exist for other study activities such as participating in grant writing and publications if desired.

Responsibilities
Direct/Manage/Supervise the university’s life science research activities. Develop and administer research plans, policies, and procedures. Evaluate results to ensure alignment with established objectives and timelines. Ensure research strategies and procedures are compliant with regulations, grant requirements, and university guidelines. Analyze and resolve departmental issues and needs. Prepare reports and keep upper-level management informed of progress and problems. Coordinate and lead daily team activities.
May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise. Assist with management decisions and activities. Working knowledge of team function within the university.
- Leads research staff meetings.
- Oversees lab employee scheduling and training.
- Oversees lab practices for participant recruitment and scheduling.
- Oversees the projects compliance with ethical standards for research involving human subjects.
- Participates in recruitment and data collection processes
- If interested, will have the opportunity to contribute to scientific manuscripts and abstracts.
- Completes other activities as delegated by the PI.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Supervisor, Research Science Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) with up to 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.
Senior Supervisor, Research Science Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
- Master’s degree in a clinically related field, effective communication skills are required.
- Native Spanish speaker is preferred because studies are conducted in English and Spanish.
