Introduction

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations and the leading UN agency in the field of migration. Working closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners, IOM promotes humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It saves lives and protects people on the move, drives solutions to displacement, and facilitates pathways for regular migration, while providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

IOM is committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive and supportive workplace where all employees can thrive professionally and feel valued. By creating such an environment, IOM aims to better harness the full potential of migration and strengthen its support to people on the move.

IOM invites candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply and provides reasonable accommodation throughout the recruitment process when required. Learn more about IOM’s workplace culture at IOM workplace culture | International Organization for Migration

Project Context and Scope

The Climate Mobility Innovation Lab (CMIL), hosted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), was established to address the nexus between human mobility and climate change. The Lab fosters innovation and partnerships to tackle the complex challenges posed by climate change and human mobility across the Mediterranean, Africa, Asia-Pacific and beyond.

Central to this work is the Risk Index for Climate Displacement (RICD), an operational foresight tool that enhances understanding of climate-induced displacement dynamics — including its drivers, triggers, and tipping points. The RICD supports the identification of current and future displacement hotspots and trends, providing actionable insights for policymakers and investors.

To support the rollout and continuous improvement of the RICD globally, IOM is seeking a CMIL Climate Data and Risk Analyst. The Analyst will contribute to the technical development and refinement of the RICD, with hands‑on responsibility for data sourcing, processing, quality improvement, and model review. Working under the guidance of the Head of CMIL and in close coordination with CMIL technical counterparts globally, the Analyst will serve as a core technical resource across CMIL analytical work streams.
