HS/Associate Scientist 1
This is a laboratory-based, HS/Associate Scientist 1 position in an environmental toxicology research laboratory in the UNM-Department of Pathology, School of Medicine. The lab does a mix of pre-clinical, in vitro and clinical laboratory-based science. The successful candidate will be responsible for assuming a technical expert role in the laboratory to regularly conduct experiments and generate data as well as assist trainees and lab members with their experiments.
Must be a self-starter, productive, independent, motivated and a team-player. There may be occasional opportunities for travel to rural communities for research purposes. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Contract will renew on an annual basis after June 30, each year, contingent on job performance and available funding. Conditions of Employment
- For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate school experience, Masters or PhD in a biomedical or related science (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology etc.) Experience with: RT-qPCR, cell culture, ELISAs, multiplex cytokine kits (such as Meso Scale kits or similar), immunofluorescent staining protocols, confocal or high-content microscopy and imaging techniques, data entry, analysis, graph/figure development and writing text for publications, troubleshooting laboratory protocols and ability to establish new protocols, mouse handling, in vitro methods, organoids are not required but preferred.
