JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTSThe Pathology Core Reference Lab (PCRL) in the Dept. of Pathology at Penn State University - College of Medicine (COM) is seeking a dynamic part-time research technologist. The PCRL provides research support throughout the COM as a research core facility and performs automated immunoassay (free light chain immunoglobulins, IL-6) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry LC-MS/MS (toxicology and steroid hormones) analysis for the hospital clinical laboratory.
The PCRL also has several funded industry-sponsored clinical laboratory research grants. The candidate must have a BS, MS, MT, MLT, PhD or other doctoral degree. Skills such as meticulous record keeping, accurate pipetting, inquisitive nature, strong organization and mastery of Microsoft Excel are required. Preference will be given to candidates with prior clinical laboratory experience and familiarity with regulatory requirements from CLIA, CAP and the FDA.The
ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and computer skills and a proven record of success working in a team environment. The in-person working hours and days are flexible.
