Job Description andPosition Requirements
The dairy nutrition research laboratory of Dr. Alex Hristov is seeking an undergraduate student to fill a part-time research support position.
Responsibilities
- Weigh cattle refusal feed, collect feed samples, and assist graduate students in their research trials with other sample collection (fecals, urine, blood, rumen contents, etc.).
- Assist with sample processing in the lab (drying samples, grinding using a Wiley Mill, weighing samples, and after training, help run various sample analyses).
- General care and cleaning of the lab and research areas.
- Provide assistance during sampling that can occur at any hour; responsible for at least one early morning refusal shift per week (5 AM) and up to two weekend days per month.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate student; experience with cattle or other livestock preferred but not required.
- Detail-oriented, motivated, capable of working independently.
Hours
- Flexible (up to 24 hours/week) with specific shift requirements as above.
Employment will require successful completion of a background check in accordance with University policies.
