What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee in the Materials Physics Department to work on novel quantum and microelectronics devices. Emphasis will be placed on exploring novel quantum phenomena and/or utilizing these phenomena to design new microelectronics devices for AI and quantum computing. You will lead device characterization and performance, and develop understanding of novel device physics. The successful candidate must be self‑motivated, able to work independently, and will be expected to present results at national and international conferences and publish research in high profile peer-reviewed journals.

On any given day you may be called on to:

  • Work independently as well as contribute creatively to team efforts
  • Perform micro- and nano-scale device fabrication using photo and e‑beam lithography
  • Perform low temperature electronic transport measurements, data analysis and device simulation
  • Operate 3

    He and dilution refrigerator cryogenic systems
  • Present results at national/international meetings and publish research in high profile peer-reviewed journals

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Some travel is required.

Qualifications We Require
  • PhD in semiconductor physics, condensed matter physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or other related science
  • A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences
Qualifications We Desire
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with electronic device fabrication (including e‑beam lithography)
  • Hands‑on experience withe operation and/or maintenance of 3

    He and dilution refrigerator cryogenic systems
  • Hands‑on experience with low‑temperature transport properties measurements
  • Experience with superconducting device physics
  • Experience with III‑V compound semiconductors and topological quantum materials
  • Experience with semiconductor device and circuits simulation
