Purpose of the position

The Data Coordinator supports EO's research, evaluation, and data management activities across its Early Childhood Care and Education, Workforce Innovation, Career Commons, and other organizational priorities.

Working closely with the Research Director and EO program teams, this position helps collect, organize, maintain, analyze, and communicate program data. The Coordinator will support program performance and outcome measurement, administer surveys, maintain project databases and shared spreadsheets, create reports and data visualizations, collaborate on funder narrative reports, and assist with applied research and evaluation projects.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, is interested in education and workforce issues, and wants to continue developing their skills in research, data analysis, visualization, and emerging technologies. The Coordinator will have opportunities to learn and use new tools, including AI-assisted and agentic workflows, to improve data management, analysis, reporting, and the development of useful data products.

Essential

functions

Data Management and Program Reporting (80%)

  • Maintain program datasets, shared spreadsheets, trackers, and other data systems used to monitor program activities, participants, outputs, outcomes, and grant requirements.
  • Perform regular data entry, cleaning, validation, reconciliation, and quality-control activities to ensure program data are accurate, complete, consistent, and current.
  • Work with program staff to establish and maintain clear processes for collecting and updating data.
  • Compile data from multiple programs, partners, systems, and external sources into analysis-ready datasets.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, documentation, standard operating procedures, and other resources supporting consistent data practices.
  • Prepare recurring program, grant, leadership, and internal performance reports.
  • Create clear and accessible charts, tables, one-pagers, presentations, and other visual products that communicate program performance and research findings.
  • Assist with questionnaire development, survey distribution, response tracking, and data quality review.
  • Support program teams in applying appropriate survey and data collection practices.

Research and Evaluation (20%)

  • Support the Director of Research in designing and implementing data collection and evaluation approaches to assess program performance and outcomes.
  • Assist with outcome measurement, program evaluation, needs assessments, landscape analyses, and other applied research projects.
  • Collect, clean, standardize, and integrate secondary data from public and administrative sources.
  • Summarize research and analytical findings for internal and external audiences.

Work environment

This position is based in the Abingdon, Virginia office.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
