Job Summary Seeking a motivated and independent student research assistant to help conduct cutting-edge research on flood risks associated with buried wetlands. This role focuses on using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map, analyze, and assess how historical wetland loss impacts modern flood vulnerability. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who excels at independent problem-solving and brings creative thinking to complex spatial and environmental challenges.##

Responsibilities
** GIS Mapping & Spatial Analysis:
Utilize GIS software (ArcGIS Pro) to compile, digitize, and analyze historical maps, soil data, and modern elevation models to locate buried wetlands and model flood risks.
* Independent Project Management:
Manage day-to-day research tasks, troubleshoot workflow bottlenecks, and keep the project moving forward with minimal supervision.
* Creative Problem Solving:
Develop innovative methodologies to bridge data gaps, including reconciling historical archival maps with modern satellite and LiDAR data.
* Data Integration & Documentation:
Organize large spatial datasets and clearly document methodologies to assist in the preparation of research reports and presentations.##

Required Qualifications

* Education:

Currently enrolled undergraduate student at UM-Dearborn.
* Technical

Skills:

Strong proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and various spatial analysis tools.
* Work Style:
Proven ability to work independently, maintain self-motivation, and manage time effectively in a research setting.
* Cognitive

Skills:
