We are looking for plant researchers with lab and/or field experience. We’re especially interested in working with grad students and postdocs. We want you to do short-term consulting for a research project aimed at assessing whether emerging AI assistants are capable of providing useful assistance in plant molecular biology and plant pathology lab work. You would help assess the accuracy of AI assistants in lab troubleshooting tasks.

This role would work in collaboration with a team of biologists working on this project full-time.

Secure Bio is a non-profit working to measure and minimize the risks of new pandemics, including those affecting crops. The AIxBio team at Secure Bio builds measurement tools to assess the potential for AI systems to contribute to global catastrophic biological risks, as well as mitigation strategies that can reduce risks once AI capabilities cross specific risk thresholds.

• Has a PhD or is currently pursuing one,
• Has hands-on lab and/or field experience with plant pathogens,
• May be international or US-based.

• This is asynchronous, remote work. It will be done in collaboration with biologists who are working on this project full-time.
