About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a talented and visionary Lead Computational Biologist to spearhead their genomics research initiatives. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in South Africa while contributing to groundbreaking discoveries. - Develop and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
- Design and perform sophisticated statistical analyses on large genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic datasets.
- Collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret sequencing results and guide future experimental design.
- Build predictive models and machine learning algorithms to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
- Lead and mentor a team of computational biologists, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in genomics, bioinformatics, and related fields.
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Extensive experience (7+ years) in computational biology, with a focus on genomics and transcriptomics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and bash scripting.
- Strong experience with NGS data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., GATK, STAR, Salmon, Seurat).
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and optimize complex bioinformatics workflows.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
