Store Associate

About the Position

Store Associates work independently or with a team in any assigned retail area of a commissary store within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system, performing duties such as handling, preparing, and stocking grocery and produce items, and checking out customer purchases.

• Handle, prepare, and stock grocery and produce items.
• Check out customer purchases.
• Maintain store operations and housekeeping.

• One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or related work that demonstrates the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for this position.
• OR Two full years of post‑secondary education above high school at an accredited institution (business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college or university). Transcripts are required when relying on education.
• OR A combination of experience and education calculated as follows: divide your months of experience by 12, divide your semester hours by 60, and add the two percentages. A total of 100% meets the minimum qualification.

• Stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and climb for prolonged periods.
• Lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds independently and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance.

Overtime:
Occasional. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA):
Nonexempt. Bargaining unit status varies by location. This position is not obligated. Telework and remote work are not eligible. Work environment may involve hot or cold weather, damp or drafty conditions, and exposure to minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, heat sealer burns or slip hazards.
