The assistant manager is responsible for the entire store operation, in conjunction with the General Manager, including program execution and product implementation along with maximizing store efficiencies, inventory control, food service, ordering, receiving and rotation of products, quality of raw and finished products, sanitation and preparation schedules, inspections and follow-up in their assigned store. The job requires an understanding of all store operations and the ability to serve as the Senior Management Person in the absence of the General Manager.
This includes accepting responsibility for the store and taking actions in the best interest of the store, its employees, and meeting operational guidelines established by BFS Foods, Inc.
- Provides top quality, fast, efficient and friendly service.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service.
- Ensures GUEST program compliance with every customer.
- Understands customer needs and tailors service accordingly.
- Handles customer complaints and ensures complete satisfaction at store level.
- Adheres to dress code; maintains uniform and nametag; ensures employees do the same.
- Recruit, train, develop and evaluate employees to properly execute programs and food service safety procedures.
- Demonstrate effective behaviors; coach store employees.
- Create a positive store culture by treating employees fairly and with respect.
- Ensure consistent quality of food service with proper training and communication to employees.
- Advise General Manager of any policy violations.
- Contribute to performance appraisals for store personnel, as appropriate.
- Attend and participate in all store scheduled meetings.
- Accept responsibility for store performance and for covering all shifts.
- Assist in developing store schedules to ensure proper labor for food service operations and to meet labor hour guidelines.
- Assist in scheduling cleaning tasks to meet sanitation standards.
- Assist in creating preparation schedules to meet customer demands.
- Supervise and delegate work to ensure a smooth workflow and deadlines are met.
- Assist in product ordering, including entering build-to’s in the order book, scanning and transmitting orders when assigned.
- Assist with adjustments to minimum and maximum levels in the POS system for all food service products as they relate to automatic ordering where applicable.
- Assist in ensuring all products are received according to Company policies for temperatures and quality.
- Alert Management of any food product problems.
- Attain objectives for all categories, using information pertaining to sales, waste and profitability.
- Check and maintain signage; ensure promotion awareness through signage and merchandising.
- Check and maintain food service area appearance; follow sanitation standards including restrooms.
- Check and adjust food service ordering build-to’s, spoilage sheets, ordering, etc.
- Perform weekly and month-end inventories on cost accounting items where applicable.
- Prepare Food service products for physical inventories.
- Maintain acceptable health and sanitation results from local and state inspections.
- Compile, update and follow up on food service area duty and housekeeping lists per Operations Manual.
- Ensure all employees follow wash hand/glove policies.
- Check and document dates and temperatures on each shift.
- Ensure proper garbage disposal/recycling requirements for food service.
- Prepare invoices for posting; check shift audit sheets; verify cash drops, charges, credit cards and voids.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and deposit funds in local bank.
- Enter all proper information in the back room PC and transmit to home office; organize and send all required information to home office and file store copies.
Inside the Store:
All levels of management team, store employees, customers and vendors.
- Prepare food quickly and accurately according to Company Standard.
- Provide fast and friendly service to each customer.
- Cooperate with and interact productively with fellow employees.
- Manage multiple tasks and multiple employees; direct team work on and between shifts.
- Work to improve store environment; learn and work on a computer.
- Stand for up to 8 hours; work in freezer (-0 to
-10 minutes) and cooler (36-40 degrees) as needed; lift up to 50 pounds; operate cash register and other equipment; sweep, mop, dust, and manage trash; clean parking lot and surrounding grounds. - Read, write and communicate in English; perform math for change and vendor check-ins; check identifications and pricing; stock shelves and retrieve merchandise; tolerate exposure to cleaning products and sanitizing solutions.
