We are hiring a Visual Specialist to join a top retail company in Columbus, OH. This freelance role will run until August 2026 with potential to extend, and will be hybrid in their Columbus office. Pay Rate: $34/HR.
Responsibilities- Support the development of visual merchandising strategies that enhance retail experience, strengthen brand equity, and support customer‑centric storytelling across stores.
- Create and execute visually compelling merchandising presentations that elevate the brand, attract new customers, and engage existing consumers.
- Implement creative concepts for special projects and brand transformation initiatives from concept through in‑store execution.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects to ensure timely delivery of visual and marketing milestones.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams, including Merchandising, Creative Marketing, and Visual Communications, to ensure alignment on product storytelling and in‑store execution.
- Translate merchandise assortments into impactful in‑store presentations in collaboration with merchants.
- Conduct ongoing market and trend research across fashion, beauty, interiors, and competitive brands to inform innovative visual strategies.
- Execute hands‑on in‑store merchandising work (~80%), including physical set‑up at the home office and select store formats.
- Utilize design tools and merchandising software to support planning and execution of visual concepts.
- 3+ years of experience in visual merchandising or related retail/creative field (in‑store experience strongly preferred).
- Strong background in visual merchandising, retail marketing, or fashion/brand presentation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self‑starter with ability to work independently and in team environments.
- Understanding of product positioning and in‑store merchandising strategy.
- Ability to perform physical store set‑up tasks, including lifting up to 30+ lbs and climbing ladders.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; experience with merchandising systems (e.g., IWD or similar) a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Art, or related field, or equivalent experience.
