As a business development consultant for commercial lines, you’ll be responsible for screening, evaluating, and recommending new account prospects that are expected to provide a significant financial and/or strategic benefit to Progressive within 3-5 years. You’ll have the opportunity to do this through building strong relationships in the industry and meeting with potential accounts to market Progressive’s products and services. Additionally, you’ll partner with multi-line sales reps in the Eastern region.
Territory- This position covers a multi-state territory: ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, NY, NJ, MD, VA, DE.
Candidate must live within the territory, preferably in MA, NY, NJ, MD or VA. Must live near a major airport and be able to travel and meet all prospects within the geographic area. Travel will be extensive and include frequent overnight stays (approx. 50-70%).
Interview ProcessInterview process includes at least one in-person interview if you advance after the phone interview.
Must-Have Qualifications- A minimum of eight years outside business-to-business sales experience or territory management experience.
- OR a bachelor’s degree or higher and a minimum of five years outside business-to-business sales experience or territory management experience.
- This position requires compliance with Progressive’s driving standards and/or policy.
- This position requires a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Experience in managing large, complex accounts and knowledge of commercial products and services.
- Proficient in consultative sales process and strategic selling skills.
- Ability to use formal and informal networks to accomplish goals.
- Strong skills in building business relationships.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multi-task, set priorities, and follow up on open items.
- $98,000- $131,000/year
- Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance.
