Sales Representative, Business Development
At Skillway, our mission is simple—we help people CRUSH their sales goals and love what they do.
As a Sales Coach & Trainer in the Memphis, TN area, you will sell our coaching and consulting services and train our clients using our proven content and methodologies.
This is a hybrid working opportunity. You will work from your home office, with frequent visits to our West Nashville location and regular meetings with clients, prospects, and networking groups in the Greater Memphis area. Occasionally, you will be required to travel to clients’ sites to work with them in person.
Over the years, we’ve met thousands of sales professionals who tell us we’ve got the coolest job. At Skillway, we speak, train, coach, go on sales calls, and change salespeople’s lives across the country.
Sales. It’s what we do.
We’re looking for a special kind of person: someone who loves selling—both on the phone and in person. The type of person who wakes up in the morning excited to prospect, network, and build a roster of referral connections. Who persistently follows up with an opportunity because, without a doubt, they know that their service can help the prospect. They understand the importance of knowing the sales cycle.
Someone who loves asking for the sale and, when they hear an objection, handles it and then kindly asks for the business again. And again. And especially someone who is an avid learner—always excited to learn new techniques.
If you’re this type of enthusiastic, consultative salesperson and you have a teacher’s heart, then we’re glad you’re reading this post. We’re looking for leaders with the extraordinary ability to teach and train others (both in the classroom and one-on-one over the phone) to generate more leads, overcome call reluctance, and build a follow-up system. We show people how to handle their time more efficiently, overcome adversity, create the need, and cover objections.
We also partner with sales leaders, improving their leadership skills to be more effective with their sales teams.
- Sell our coaching and consulting services over the phone and via networking, outbound prospecting, and one-on-one meetings
- Follow the Skillway sales approach
- Research prospects and set meetings, build relationships with strategic partners
- Help prospects navigate our services effectively
- Track and manage your sales pipelines using Salesforce
- Deliver one-on-one coaching to our clients (relationship-based salespeople and sales executives) using our content and methodologies. One-on-one coaching will be delivered over the phone from your home office
- Facilitate classroom and virtual training sessions
- Perform sales consulting functions (shadowing, interviews, research) over the phone and in the field
- Manage your time management effectively between coaching and sales activity with little oversight
- Run with a plan with little day-to-day management—must be self-motivated enough to execute the plan without constant prompting; must be confident enough to ask for help when you hit a roadblock
- Specializing in relationship selling—not transactional selling (if you like to get in and get out and move on to the next prospect, we’re not for you!)
- Never having to use gimmicky sales tactics or pressure people to buy
- Accepting a “no” graciously and celebrating a “yes” happily
- A team with no bad attitudes, big egos, or smarmy reputations
- A culture that thrives on positivity, abundance, resilience, and learning
- A lucrative base salary + commission
- Quarterly revenue sharing (after your first 90 days)
- Annual retreat and incentive trips
- A company laptop and a cell phone allowance
- Generous, flexible paid time off policy
- Paid medical, dental, vision, life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance
- 401(k) plan with company match
- A heart of a teacher
- 5+ years of B2B sales experience (thorough knowledge of all aspects of the sales cycle)
- Instructor-led training experience
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to manage groups and encourage participation
- Desire to actively sharpen your saw through reading books and attending conferences
- Ability and desire to work independently and manage your calendar and daily tasks
- Excellent business writing skills

- Ability to embrace new technologies
- Go-getter, self-starter mindset
- Desire to deepen relationships
- High school education required; bachelor’s degree preferred
