Job Summary

At Dorman, the Area Sales Manager (ASM) is the primary heavy‑duty aftermarket sales contact for all assigned warehouse distributors within their area of responsibility, and secondary contact for all assigned jobbers. In order to best serve our customers in the assigned territory,
the ideal candidate will reside in the greater Indianapolis, IN or greater Chicago, IL area. The sales territory to be covered includes, but is not limited to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. This is a road‑warrior position that may require travel outside of the assigned area based on business needs.

Primary Duties

Drive sales, profitability and awareness of Dorman Products with mid‑sized traditional customers, within the assigned territory, in support of business plan achievement.

Work with current and potential customers to gain new distribution and optimize inventory/deployment within existing categories.

Maintain relationships with assigned accounts to make sure that Dorman's products are properly presented and promoted at each customer.

Maintain regular contact with customers and represent Dorman at customer events.

Occasionally assist with pull‑through support such as sales/counterperson training, market blitzes and changeovers.

Be the eyes and ears in the field, proactively communicating any competitive risks, opportunities, and new product ideas back to corporate.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High level of competency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Self‑starter that thrives in remote office environment.

Fact‑based competitive selling experience and strong presentation skills.

Travel Requirement:
Ability to travel 50% or more of the time, including weekend travel as needed.

Education / Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, automotive technology or a related field preferred.

5+ years of applicable experience, preferably in the heavy‑duty aftermarket.

Prior experience working with WDs, Jobbers, or Technicians preferred.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $88,300.00 to $. This role is also eligible for a bonus. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job‑related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
