Business Development Manager – Alternative Investments
A boutique UK venture capital firm is seeking a Business Development Manager to generate new business from financial advisers across the Midlands and or the Southwest.
This is a purely intermediary/advisory-focused role, working closely with financial advisers. As a boutique business, the firm offers larger regional coverage, realistic targets and a highly supportive but hands‑off management culture, giving you the autonomy to build and grow your territory effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Raise capital for the firm’s alternative investment solutions via financial advisers
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with intermediary firms, adviser networks
- Promote the firm’s alternative investment opportunities, clearly articulating the investment proposition and suitability for adviser clients.
- Represent the firm at industry events, adviser meetings and investment presentations.
- Support the development of adviser-facing marketing materials, presentations, and investor communications.
- Maintain long‑term relationships with existing partners, ensuring consistent engagement and updates.
- Proven track record in investment sales or capital raising within an adviser-facing role.
- Essential: strong experience promoting alternative investments (e.g. VC, PE, EIS, VCT)
- Established network of financial advisers within the Midlands and or the Southwest.
- Strong understanding of tax‑efficient structures such as EIS/VCT is advantageous.
- Self‑motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable managing a broad region with autonomy.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building and influencing skills.
- Competitive base salary – up to £100K
