Reports To: Complex Director of Sales and Marketing

Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and highly driven Associate Director of Sales to join our team. This role is responsible for providing support to the Complex Director of Sales & Marketing and leading the development and execution of strategic Sales Plans and initiatives that maximize profitability for the hotel to achieve budget, revenue and market share targets. This position will also be responsible for leading business development by prospecting and identifying, securing, and managing high-yield business that aligns with our positioning and revenue goals.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in group sales and brings both a strategic mindset and a strong sales acumen. This role is accountable for supporting the Complex DOSM in leading and developing the sales team, managing the citywide segment, prospecting targets, generating RFP’s, increasing market share, creating market awareness and delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Complex DOSM to support, train, and supervise the sales team
  • Lead the sales team in daily activities and meetings when Complex DOSM is unavailable and as needed
  • Work with Complex DOSM, GM, and DORM to develop sales strategies to deploy to the sales team
  • Develop the citywide market segment and manage the relationship with Explore St. Louis and citywide clients and third parties
  • Develop and improve relationships between the sales team and other departments within the hotel
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities across corporate, association, government, SMERF, and third-party segments to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Develop and implement a robust business development strategy focused on expanding market reach and increasing brand awareness.
  • Generate a healthy pipeline of qualified leads through cold calling and digital prospecting.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers including travel managers, meeting planners, DMCs, event organizers.
  • Collaborate with the sales, marketing, and revenue teams to align prospecting strategies with hotel positioning and availability.
  • Track and report on all business development activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with travel managers, procurement teams, agency partners, and travel advisors.
  • Participate in regular hotel, brand, and company meetings.
  • Other responsibilities/duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of sales experience in full-service hotel sales.
  • Positive, upbeat attitude and proven ability to work well with others.
  • Strong network within the travel, corporate, Association, SMERF sectors.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Professional and polished demeanor, with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Deep understanding of hospitality service standards and guest expectations.
  • Proficient in sales CRM systems, CI/TY experience a plus.
  • Weekly reporting & recap to Area Director of Sales with the following required data.
  • Accounts Targeted during the week.
  • Accounts identified during the week.
  • RFP generated for the week.
  • Wins for the week.
  • Office-based work with frequent interaction across departments and spaces
  • Extended desk work combined with time spent moving throughout the property
  • Ability to safely lift and move items up to 40 lbs., with team support for heavier items
  • Comfort with continuous movement, including bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and walking on varied surfaces
