Work ArrangementsThis role has a hybrid arrangement. Expect to work in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) in Chicago, IL;
New York, NY; and Los Angeles, CA.
- Support Commercial Underwriting in the sales acquisition process, including account coordination, new business and renewal policy essential services, reporting, preliminary classification, and data collection.
- Prepare work orders for rating and issue policies, applying screening criteria according to guidelines.
- Serve as the primary contact for agents, handling inquiries and requests and communicating with customers to obtain necessary underwriting information.
- Resolve problems and support sales efforts and strategies.
- Manage high volumes of transactions, balancing quality and timeliness while maintaining an effective pending/diary/follow‑up system.
- Understand and support organizational vision and strategy, embracing change; stay current on industry and marketplace trends.
- Align own work plans with commitment timelines and manage time effectively, balancing multiple priorities.
- Identify benefits and opportunities of change and implement support for change initiatives.
- Modify work activities to eliminate waste and inefficiency; attend regional office meetings to understand priorities.
- Pursue continuous self‑development and learn new skills; understand territory dynamics and book of business knowledge.
- Build effective relationships and partnerships, demonstrating core values, fairness, and respect.
- Respond to customer inquiries with urgency, set high standards, and provide professionalism and credibility.
- Communicate clearly: listen, ask probing questions, speak concisely, and document information effectively.
- Prior experience as an Account Manager in the commercial insurance market.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation, Auto, General Liability, and Property coverages.
- Functional knowledge of Commercial Lines rating.
- Strong customer‑service and relationship‑building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Good automation skills and strong technical ability.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work autonomously.
- Capacity to shift work efforts quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
High‑speed broadband internet service is required (75 MB download / 10 MB upload), with an internet‑provided modem/router hardwired to the Hartford‑issued computer via ethernet cable.
CompensationThe annualized base pay range for this role is $59,200 – $88,800. Additional rewards may include bonuses, long‑term incentives, and on‑the‑spot recognition.
