Literal is an engaging social reading tool for educators and students. Backed by VC and powered by an incredible community of users, we're really good at getting teens to spend more time in a book while also giving teachers the AI tools needed to make their job faster, easier and more enjoyable.

As the Sales Development Rep (SDR), you’ll grow the business by prospecting for upgrades among our massive list of active accounts. You'll help educate decision makers on why their teachers are all using Literal, and you'll qualify and nurture leads throughout the entire sales process.

You’ll join a team, paired with a closer, and work together to keep leads warm and moving towards a solution that will solve some of their biggest problems. 70% of our outreach happens over the phone while 30% will happen over email.

This is a full‑time 1099 role. Hours are wildly flexible, as long as you get the job done. We all remote work ~1 day a week, but we are prioritizing hires that can join us in the office most of the week, most of the time.

Instead of the standard $45,000 for similar jobs, we've opted for a higher compensation of $60,000 OTE (On Target Earnings, or what you should make by hitting your basic goals). That includes a $30,000 base pay. There is absolutely opportunity after ~6 months & assuming we're hiring, to continue your career growth and move into other roles as interest permits, such as a regional sales rep or territory manager.

What’s required? This position requires an absolute go-getter’s mentality. This is not a role for folks that need to be told what to do. At Literal, we only hire the best and the brightest. We trust you to take the vision, understand the end goal and employ your own creative solution to reaching those milestones successfully. Note:

that although on‑the‑job training is available, the ideal candidate will already have some experience in Sales. You'll start with access to our on-demand training course, and together we'll start making calls on Day 2. Additional requirements may include:

• A competitive appetite and ability to push yourself to hitting daily success metrics
• Ability and comfort in picking up the phone and talking directly to customers
• Ability to write compelling email copy
• Experience in sales and the art of persuasion
