BriefJob Overview
This professional level position is responsible for revenue growth in Southeast Asia. The role reports to the Strategic Customer Development Lead, APAC and works collaboratively with the Market Development Manager and other relevant regional and program operations staff to develop and implement strategic sales plans. This position converts industry prospects into customers, builds high-valued relationships to increase USP’s account penetration and overall value within each account.
The role serves as the internal Voice of Customer (VOC) for customers in Southeast Asia.
Remote, 2‑year fixed‑term position.

The Strategic Customer Development Manager, Southeast Asia has the following responsibilities:- Makes on‑site calls to assigned and unassigned accounts, identifying key users, influencers, and decision‑makers for USP’s products and services.
- Acquires knowledge of how customers use USP products and identifies areas for potential new business.
- Develops and implements account strategies to grow sales and expand relationships with customers.
- Focuses on Tier 1 (key accounts) and Tier 2 customers, both direct and via authorized distributors in assigned Southeast Asian countries.
- Manages lead follow‑up from campaigns, trade shows, events, open quotes, and abandoned carts to increase territory utilization of USP products and services.
- Collaborates with scientific affairs and marketing to strengthen customer support and loyalty.
- Works with internal and external stakeholders to analyze data, prepare reports on customer sales trends for USP and competitor products, and identify customer needs and sales opportunities.
- Develops account‑specific plans and performance targets; performs monthly and quarterly financial reviews of overall performance against revenue targets.
- Maintains and updates account information for all assigned accounts in USP’s CRM database with customer contacts, profiling information, account plans, and tracks growth opportunities.
- Participates in user forums, face‑to‑face customer visits, and USP trade shows to promote USP reference standards and services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Travel may be up to 30–40 % to the assigned countries.
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related science field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful sales and account management experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and related lab services industries.
- Integrity and trust: never coerces or acts unethically, illegally, or contrary to USP’s core values.
- Strong account management skills, able to uncover customer needs and sell solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and planning skills.
- Ability to convert prospects into customers and build long‑term relationships.

- Collaborative within various teams with a successful track record in a complex, global, matrixed, fast‑paced, multi‑task environment.
- Experience in an analytical laboratory desired.
- Experience delivering oral presentations to groups desired.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively for work‑life balance.
- Excellent knowledge of the biotech and pharma industries with established contacts within research, lab management, and product development departments.
- Scientific background or understanding of analytical science coupled with a successful sales track record strongly preferred.
