The Internal Sales Consultant (ISC) is a high‑performing outbound sales role responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining selling relationships within their assigned book of business, driving revenue growth and acceleration.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through calling efforts, mail/email campaigns, referrals, and social media activity.
- Partner effectively with external sales counterparts and generate monthly sales results within an assigned book of business in the financial advisor channel and/or TPA network.
- Manage prospects throughout the sales cycle, resulting in closed business.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with key advisors and centers of influence.
- Deliver sales presentations to key advisors primarily via phone and web presentations.
- Schedule meetings for external partners with key prospects and producers.
- Develop and share proactive sales techniques that lead to increased revenue.
- Represent Ascensus professionally at conferences and educational forums.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the retirement plan industry and mastery of Ascensus products and services.
- Delegate and provide direction to team Sales Associates.
- Mediation and resolution of escalated client service issues when necessary for producers.
- Create and manage the book‑of‑business travel rotation.
- Develop assigned business plans and identify ways to attract and retain new clients.
- Maintain all business and sales related information within CRM.
- Work independently with little supervision and perform periodic travel as needed.
- Protect, secure, and properly handle all confidential data in accordance with Ascensus policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the retirement industry.
- Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Understanding of social selling concepts and practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical and problem‑resolution skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of retirement plans, IRS and ERISA regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and experience with CRM (Microsoft Dynamics or ).
- Ability to manage pipeline information, reports, data, and insights of a sales territory.
- Proven ability to generate revenue and drive sales growth.
- Ability to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective judgment within company guidelines and ERISA rules.
For virtual remote positions, an uninterrupted workspace and a family care arrangement during business hours are required. An internet connection of 25
Mbps or better for individual use is required; if multiple users share the same connection, a stronger connection is needed. Call center roles must have a direct, hard‑wired connection or a workstation in close proximity to the router.

Salary & BenefitsThe national average salary range is $43,000–$85,000 in base pay, exclusive of bonuses and benefits. Benefits may include 401(k) match, medical, dental, vision, paid time off, health savings account contributions up to $1,100, 401(k) and 529 college savings match programs, and volunteer and charitable‑giving programs.
