Job Overview

The Trade Sales Consultant is responsible for building the Pella brand within the trade industry as their premier choice for window and door solutions. The role focuses on relational selling across the full line of Pella products, delivering market expertise and partnership by understanding customer needs and building strong relationships with builders, contractors, architects, professional remodelers and trade organizations. The position is based in Northern New Jersey and requires outside sales experience, industry knowledge, and residence in Northern New Jersey or Rockland County, NY.

Compensation includes a base salary ranging from $57,000 to $75,000, uncapped commission, and a comprehensive benefits package. Employees are encouraged to work independently, managing their own schedule while spending more than 50% of the time at customer sites.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve individual sales and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Generate new leads through networking, referrals, and face‑to‑face meetings.
  • Represent Pella at company‑sponsored events, trade association meetings, and builder home shows.
  • Acquire new customers while nurturing loyalty among existing relationships.
  • Respond to client concerns and strive for first‑time resolution.
  • Maintain deep product knowledge and stay aware of the competitive landscape.
  • Use a consultative sales approach to recommend products and consistent follow‑up.
  • Ensure accurate quoting and ordering following company procedures.
  • Educate customers on installation guidelines and proper measurements.
  • Leverage other Pella team members to resolve specific product requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact to encourage ongoing customer relationships.
  • Adhere to the Trade Selling Process in all interactions.
  • Collaborate with Operations for post‑sale service and installations.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable on billing or payment issues.
  • Use CRM tools to manage all customer interactions and proactive communication.
  • Be available for customers during evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Work variable, non‑traditional hours when required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or one to two years of related experience.
  • Valid motor vehicle record meeting company standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with constant interruptions and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reading contracts, writing reports, and presenting information.
  • Clean and neat appearance, adherence to dress code, and serving as a role model.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical and arithmetic problems in dynamic situations.
  • Physical ability to drive, stand, walk, sit, handle materials, and lift up to 25 pounds routinely, with occasional lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Extremely local travel; capable of driving to showrooms, job sites, and various company functions.
