Area Sales Manager

Location:

New York / Connecticut / Boston Area

We are seeking an Area Sales Manager (ASM) to lead a team of territory managers and manage a portfolio of accounts within a portfolio of territories. The ASM will enact area strategy with the General Sales Manager (GSM), set sales goals to achieve area growth, and strengthen key account relationships.

The ASM will allocate approximately 25% of their time managing the area from a home office; the remaining 75% will be spent in the field coaching the team and meeting with active and prospective accounts. Work hours may extend beyond the standard schedule when necessary to meet business objectives.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $132,000, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and hold a team of sales professionals accountable to generate profitable growth.
  • Ensure the sales team meets or exceeds targets for sales and margin by setting goals, monitoring progress, and providing coaching.
  • Create sales plans and KPIs for the assigned geographic area to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain and increase existing revenue streams.
  • Utilize CRM tools and the sales funnel to manage sales activity for the team and self.
  • Drive new business by promoting bulk and packaged medical gases and other growth programs within the area.
  • Retain existing customers by maintaining strong relationships and communicating Linde’s value proposition.
  • Manage contract renewals and share gain at designated accounts.
  • Coach team members on delivering service consistent with the value proposition.
  • Negotiate multi-year supply agreements with new accounts.
  • Ensure accurate account set‑up and pricing data.
  • Resolve slow‑pay accounts in collaboration with the collections representative.
  • Promote technology offerings strategically to enhance gross margin.
  • Remove barriers preventing team members from achieving goals.
  • Report sales progress, successes, and challenges to the General Sales Manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 5 years of outside sales experience in B2B healthcare or gas industry.
  • Proven sales process skills in a business environment with a 6‑18 month sales cycle.
  • Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
