Role DescriptionThis is a full-time Area Sales Representative role based in the Greater Chattanooga area in a hybrid work model, combining local field work with some work-from-home flexibility. The Area Sales Representative will identify and develop new business opportunities with employers, schedule and lead sales presentations, and promote Colonial Life’s portfolio of workplace benefits. This role includes building and maintaining relationships with business owners, HR leaders, and brokers, as well as coordinating enrollment activities and supporting benefit communication to employees.
The Area Sales Representative will regularly meet sales targets, manage a pipeline of prospects, prepare proposals, and deliver follow-up service to existing accounts. The position also involves collaborating with internal teams, participating in local networking events, and maintaining accurate records in sales and CRM systems.
- Proven sales, business development, or account management experience, ideally in insurance, financial services, or B2B environments.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage business owners, HR professionals, and key decision-makers.
- Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, including comfort with group presentations and one-on-one meetings.
- Solid organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines.
- Self-motivated mindset with a goal-oriented approach and the ability to work independently in a hybrid setting.
- Comfort using digital tools and CRM systems to track leads, manage opportunities, and report on sales activity.
- Ability to travel regularly within the Greater Chattanooga area for client meetings, enrollments, and networking events.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Life and Health insurance license (or willingness and ability to obtain within a specified timeframe, with support).
