The Role
Quidel Ortho unites the strengths of Quidel Corporation and Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, creating a world‑leading in vitro diagnostics company with award‑winning expertise in immunoassay and molecular testing, clinical chemistry and transfusion medicine.
We are looking for an Account Manager, Clinical Laboratory/Transfusion Medicine in South Texas to drive sales and growth of Quidel Ortho’s Clinical Laboratory (CL) and Transfusion Medicine (TM) product lines. The role is front‑line, customer‑facing, quota‑carrying, and responsible for managing a geographic territory or a portfolio of named accounts.
Responsibilities- Drive revenue growth within an assigned territory or named accounts by managing and expanding existing CL and TM customer relationships.
- Achieve instrument sales targets, grow assay and reagent utilization, and ensure customer retention.
- Identify, develop, and close high‑probability competitive opportunities by establishing personal credibility and articulating Quidel Ortho value propositions.
- Maximize customer retention rates through satisfaction, executing customer touchpoint/call plans, territory management and acting as the single point of contact for all problem resolutions.
- Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans to prioritize, retain and expand current CL and TM accounts.
- Partner with fellow Quidel Ortho sales partners to drive customer instrument and assay retention opportunities.
- Manage opportunities both within and outside of the buying/sales cycle and leverage a strategic selling framework to close sales opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs.
- Provide prompt and accurate sales forecasts, activity, account updates and reports via CRM system.
- Effectively manage the sales pipeline from lead acquisition to contract signing.
- Represent Quidel Ortho at trade shows and professional meetings.
- Meet or exceed established touchpoints per week.
- Perform other work‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in the healthcare industry, with knowledge of B2B sales and/or capital equipment.
- Experience in the medical device/life science/diagnostic market.
- Strong strategic marketing, consulting and data‑analysis skills.
- Ability to translate strategy into executable tactical action plans.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High degree of ethics and professionalism.
- Ability to uphold and support individual and company values.
- Travel up to 70% domestic overnight.
- 5 years of sales experience in the healthcare industry with B2B and/or capital equipment knowledge.
- Experience with hospital or physician office sales, medical devices, distributor sales, and/or national accounts.
- Proven track record of success in account management, customer retention and consultative business skills (e.g., NPS score, TOR, activity, menu expansion).
Typical outside sales environment. Must work autonomously in a home office while traveling to customer sites.
Physical DemandsMust be physically able to travel up to 70%; maintain a valid driver’s license and possess an automobile suitable for travel. Requires standing, walking, sitting, and occasional reaching, climbing or balancing. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
CompensationSalary range: $80,000 to $100,000, plus incentive compensation.
