National Account Manager – Remote – Greater Boston (60% Travel)
As the National Account Manager you will be responsible for developing and leading the overall sales and marketing strategy for a leading mechanical, electrical, and plumbing wholesale distributor in New England. You will take full ownership of the sales cycle—including listing presentations, execution, forecasting, POS review, and promotional planning—and continuously analyze the competitive landscape to secure proper channel positioning.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain strong strategic relationships with key personnel within assigned accounts.
- Lead new item recommendations and presentations; conduct POS/Scorecard analysis and promotional planning.
- Meet and exceed POS sales goals and secure national exposure for all new product launches from strategic business units.
- Negotiate annual customer SBA/VBA agreements and collaborate with field account managers to understand regional and local needs.
- Provide ongoing support and communication to field teams to drive growth, including product training, safety seminars, and field programs/events.
- Coordinate and execute targeted account initiatives with Product NAM team and develop event promos and flyers aligned with the national event schedule.
- Manage marketing, promotional, and T&E budget; build the annual Operating Plan (OP).
- Report on all competitive activity within the national account space and review business with customers monthly/quarterly to ensure growth targets are achieved.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in sales or marketing focused on construction and industrial channels.
- Prior sales management and key account experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, verbal and written communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Proven leadership and team‑player record with ability to drive sales growth.
- Excellent time‑management and prioritization abilities.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Capability to work independently and cross‑functionally at multiple levels (Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, etc.).
- National and local customer travel required (60%).
