Job Description

We are seeking a driven, reliable, highly organized, and pet-passionate professional with experience in a veterinary hospital environment or a strong field sales background with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new industries.

In this role, you will visit veterinary practices throughout your assigned territory, build strong relationships, and engage hospital owners and staff on the benefits of pet insurance. You will help veterinary teams incorporate insurance discussions into their daily workflows, ultimately improving the hospital and patient experience.

The ideal candidate is comfortable with a full-time, 40-hour-per-week commitment, thrives in a highly active field-based role, and is motivated by growth and performance. This position offers a competitive base salary, a comprehensive bonus structure, and opportunities for career advancement.

This role requires daily, in-person visits to veterinary hospitals within a defined geographic territory.

Candidates must reside in the Guelph, Hamilton, Burlington, or surrounding areas to be considered.

The Role

  • Own the complete sales cycle within your territory
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with veterinary professionals
  • Approach objections with curiosity and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Use data to effectively manage and grow your territory
  • Train veterinary hospitals on incorporating pet insurance into their workflows
  • Increase awareness and adoption of pet insurance throughout the territory
  • Grow the territory by increasing both active clients and same-hospital sales performance
  • Requirements

  • Self-motivated with a strong drive to succeed
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proven success in B2B sales or managing a book of business
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • Goal-oriented, resilient, and proactive
  • Tech-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Passionate about pets and aligned with Trupanion's mission of helping responsible pet owners provide the best possible care when their pets become sick or injured
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Reliable vehicle for daily travel
  • Location Requirements

  • Must reside in the Guelph, Hamilton, Burlington, or surrounding area
  • Must be willing to spend approximately 30 hours per week visiting veterinary hospitals, with the remaining time dedicated to administrative responsibilities from a home office
  • Additional Requirements

  • Daily travel to veterinary hospitals is required
  • One week of in-person training at Trupanion's Home Office in Seattle
  • Occasional weekend travel for regional meetings, training, and professional development
  • Occasional weekend attendance at veterinary conferences and industry events
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the animal health industry or
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales representative role
