About the RoleThe Hartford’s Group Benefits segment is a market leader in life and disability insurance and offers a suite of voluntary products and services that help businesses attract and retain top talent. In this role, you will drive sales growth, identify new business opportunities, and strengthen relationships with key producers.
Responsibilities- Maintain and develop strategic business relationships with key producers in an assigned territory, focusing on employer groups of 100–5,000 lives.
- Build actionable sales plans that align with Group Benefits financial objectives for growth, retention, and profit.
- Utilize data tools to monitor plan results, communicate findings, and implement actions.
- Manage sales administration responsibilities, including timely reporting and expense management.
- Travel extensively (50–70%) within the assigned territory; must reside within the Nashville, TN market and be able to travel to the Hartford Nashville office occasionally.
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the Group Benefits industry with a proven ability to develop strategic relationships with producers and brokers.
- Excellent working relationships with all business associates, including producers, internal & external customers, underwriting, and service center staff.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Group Life & Health license as a condition of employment.
- Working knowledge of Group Life and Disability Benefits markets and competence in differentiating competitor offerings.
- Financial acumen and general understanding of underwriting methodology.
- Exceptional sales management, negotiation, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, customer‑service orientation, and time‑management skills.
- Commitment to personal development through industry associations, round tables, and relevant designations.
- Proficiency with technology such as MS Office and Salesforce.
- Valid driver’s license; company car may be provided.
Base salary is $60,000 per year with a highly lucrative bonus plan. The base pay is one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package, which may also include short‑term or annual bonuses, long‑term incentives, and on‑the‑spot recognition.
Work ArrangementThis role offers a hybrid and remote work arrangement, with the expectation of working at the Tennessee office as business needs arise (800 Crescent, Franklin, TN).
