Role Description The Agency Development Manager is a contract role responsible for growing and supporting a network of insurance agents and agencies in the Covington, LA market through a hybrid work arrangement (combining on-site and work-from-home activities). On a day-to-day basis, this role recruits, onboards, and mentors agents, helps them understand Colonial Life’s products, and supports them in building sustainable books of business.
The Agency Development Manager collaborates with regional and home office teams to implement sales strategies, coordinate enrollment activities, and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. This position regularly analyzes performance metrics, conducts field visits, and provides coaching to drive production, retention, and professional development. The role also includes building relationships with local employers and brokers, representing Colonial Life at industry and community events, and maintaining accurate records and reporting.
- Ability to recruit, develop, coach, and retain sales or agency teams.
- Experience managing client relationships with employers, brokers, or business partners in a B2B environment.
- Solid understanding of prospecting, pipeline management, and territory development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for in-person and virtual interactions.
- Proven organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and accurate reporting.
- Comfort with technology, including CRM tools, virtual meeting platforms, and basic office software.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment, with regular in-market travel in and around Covington, LA.
- State insurance license (or eligibility and willingness to obtain one within required time frames).
- Prior leadership, training, or field management experience is highly beneficial.
