Job Overview
We anticipate the application window for this opening will close on 26 Jun 2026. This is a field‑based District Sales Manager role for Cardiac Surgery, responsible for achieving unit and revenue goals for assigned therapy products within a defined district.
The District Sales Manager (DSM) motivates and inspires a team of Sales Representatives, engages directly with key customers, assists in meeting overall therapy marketing objectives, and interacts with senior sales and marketing leadership.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to achieve short‑ and long‑term business objectives.
- Utilize field visits, individual or group meetings, and telephone contacts to train and develop employees in sales skills, product knowledge, teamwork, time and territory management, competitive knowledge, and career goal pursuits.
- Coordinate sales efforts and communicate corporate, divisional, regional, and district mission, goals, and activities.
- Direct and motivate personnel to achieve unit and revenue goals.
- Provide ongoing feedback and coaching, and schedule performance reviews on a regular basis.
- Implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist employees with individual development plans (IDPs).
- Apply customer‑focused quality concepts and perform all duties in compliance with the Quality System.
- Manage district assets: develop and manage budgets and forecasts, and ensure efficient use of inventory and expenses.
- Negotiate and resolve price and contract issues with reps, accounts, regional management, and home office personnel.
- Coordinate with sales reps and managers of other product lines to diversify and maximize overall team results.
- Develop ethical, long‑term customer relationships and represent Medtronic management to customers.
- Recruit and interview candidates to maintain a strong personnel bench, hire top candidates for open positions, and meet workplace diversity goals.
- Provide feedback of marketing intelligence to sales and marketing.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of medical sales experience; or Advanced Degree and 5 years of medical sales and leadership experience.
- Successful medical sales record, preferably with Cardiac Surgery products.
- Experience with sales and personnel management functions.
- Knowledge of Medtronic Cardiac Surgery product/therapy customer base.
- Additional experience in marketing, training, technical services, or related areas.
- Preference given to local qualified candidates and those with Medtronic experience.
Job Requirements
- Must be independently mobile and able to travel extensively by car and plane.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds, sit, stand 8 hours/day, and wear a lead apron for 2–3 hours on average.
- Must be able to operate a moving vehicle and work in OR and/or hospital labs with radiation exposure.
- Must be able to conduct business outside the typical Monday‑Friday, 8:00am‑5:00pm schedule.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance; driving record will be reviewed.
