National Account Manager – Grainger – Remote (United States)

We are seeking an experienced National Account Manager to partner with Grainger and top‑end user customers within the construction and industrial channels. You will own the full sales cycle, building strategic relationships, forecasting, and driving business growth with national and occasionally global accounts ranging from $1M to $14M.

Responsibilities
  • Own the entire sales cycle: build and maintain relationships, deliver presentations, forecast POS, and plan promotions.
  • Continuously evaluate the competitive landscape to support strategic national account planning.
  • Manage the largest and most complex national accounts, engaging executive leadership to align solutions with their strategic objectives.
  • Utilize data to uncover opportunities, conduct site visits, pilot solutions, quantify findings, and secure commitments.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Management for forecasting, with Field Teams for execution, and exceed client expectations through world‑class account management.
  • Execute quarterly business reviews with key end‑user customers, focusing on line extensions and share‑of‑wallet growth.
  • Engage Grainger leadership (VPs, Directors, National Account Managers) to align value propositions with key performance indicators.
  • Analyze purchase history and spend reports to identify gaps, reengage customers, and drive line extensions.
  • Review performance with end‑users monthly/quarterly to ensure growth targets are met.
  • Target core accounts that deliver the greatest impact and accelerate results.
  • Shorten the sales cycle by aligning customized programs, deals, and urgency triggers.
  • Travel extensively throughout the country, increase engagement touchpoints, and shorten the sales cycle through national programming.
  • Meet and exceed POS sales goals nationally and drive conversions and sell‑through across Grainger.
  • Negotiate annual end‑user agreements and national programs.
  • Collaborate with regional sales directors and industrial account managers to understand market needs.
  • Communicate and support field teams to expand business opportunities.
  • Manage travel expenses, budget for targeted funds, and demo tools.
  • Provide event marketing and training support, delivering product education and safety seminars to end‑users.
  • Create and drive field programs and events to drive sales and educate end‑users on product lines.
  • Support Supplier Management and channel partners in defining promotional strategies and new product launches.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of sales or marketing experience in construction and industrial channels.
  • Prior sales management and key account experience.
  • Strong platform skills; comfortable presenting and speaking before large audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Adaptable to changing business practices and market dynamics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills; organized and able to multitask.
  • Proven leadership and team‑player ability with a track record of driving sales growth.
  • Effective time‑management and priority‑setting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and cross‑functionally at multiple organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • Experience in event marketing and training (preferred).
Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary with a range of $105,000–$169,100 plus variable incentives and commissions.
