Key Account Manager – Bone Health
The Key Account Manager – Bone Health reports to the Key Account Director and is responsible for assessing and diagnosing the current business environment in assigned accounts in relation to Amgen products. They plan and execute actions for success, working internally through matrix teams and externally with customers to develop strong relationships that support sales performance and brand strategies across complex partner organizations.
RoleResponsibilities
- Develop and execute innovative market strategies to reach difficult-to-access health care providers and accounts in a compliant manner.
- Serve as the Amgen Bone Health contracting point.
- Lead contract delivery, conduct business reviews, and track performance.
- Coordinate with GPOs and large Rheumatology Networks.
- Lead post‑fracture care initiatives.
- Monitor Amgen business performance across the portfolio.
- Identify drivers/barriers and coordinate pull‑through initiatives across field teams.
- Provide actionable field intelligence and recommendations to Amgen home office.
- Partner closely with Market Access Team Account Executives in shared accounts.
- Identify and resolve contracting/membership/channel issues.
- Provide field insight and recommendations to Pricing, Brand, and GPO teams.
- Shape environment, exploring alternate sites of care, injection sites, and value‑based partnerships.
- Doctorate degree & 2 years of sales experience and/or account management experience.
- Master’s degree & 4 years of sales experience and/or account management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of sales experience and/or account management experience.
- 3+ years of account management and/or public payer experience.
- Resides in the geography and has established relationships with key accounts/customers.
- Advanced degree (e.g. MPH, MBA, PharmD) with 7+ years of healthcare sales/marketing experience or related experience in buying processes and decision making.
- Experience in clinic, hospital, access environment, applicable competitors, specialty.
- District management, reimbursement, or managed care experience.
- Demonstrated solid understanding of current marketplace and trends.
- Knowledge of payor systems, billing, coding, and reimbursement processes.
- Knowledge of CMS policies and processes.
- Documented ability to work with sales force to resolve payer‑related issues.
- Clear understanding of buy‑and‑bill process.
- Proven ability to think strategically and develop, execute, and monitor strategic business plans.
- Ability to engage, influence, and lead cross‑functional teams.
- Leadership ability focused on influence, impact, and leading without authority.
- Identify key staff and departments that influence biopharmaceutical product utilization in key accounts and cultivate relationships with decision makers.
- Procure appropriate company resources to achieve account objectives.
- Analyze, interpret, and draw insights from clinic economics/financial performance.
- Analyze, interpret, and draw insights from varying data sources.
- Navigate clinic reimbursement effectively.
- Experience in public payer/agency activities, including understanding of LCD processes.
- Knowledge of hospital committee structure, P&T process, treatment/discharge protocols, DRG and hospital reimbursement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: networking, influencing, negotiation, presentation, written and verbal communication.
- Thrives in fast‑paced environment handling multiple competing priorities.
