Sales Consultant, Outside Sales, Business Development
Are you a natural closer with an eye for design? Makara ADU is hiring a Sales Consultant to guide local homeowners through building their dream backyard home — base salary plus commission to bring $150K–$200K realistic first-year earnings.
Company DescriptionMakara ADU is a premier design-build firm specializing in Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) across Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, the company is a leading turn‑key ADU provider in the Washington, DC metro area, delivering modern, high‑quality detached and converted ADUs. These spaces include in‑law suites, home offices, senior living units, and rental units that help homeowners maximize property value, support multigenerational living, and age in place.
Makara ADU manages projects end‑to‑end, from design and permitting through utilities and construction, with a focus on efficiency, code compliance, and budget. Fully licensed and insured, the company is known for its craftsmanship, local expertise, and personalized service.
The Sales Consultant is a client‑facing role responsible for driving sales, guiding the client experience, and closing ADU projects that typically range from approximately $225,000 to $400,000. This person is often the primary point of contact for the homeowner from first inquiry through signed contract and handoff to production.
This role is sales‑driven first. Design skill is required as a practical tool — to help homeowners visualize an ADU on their lot, work with them to create the right plan (or present one of our standard plans), and define scope clearly — not as a formal architectural or engineering function.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, managing multiple active opportunities, and guiding homeowners through straightforward design and renovation decisions efficiently and confidently.
We expect to onboard the right candidate with hands‑on training and mentorship — initially supporting our sales and design process — and then transition them to independently owning their own pipeline of sales and design opportunities. The ideal candidate is someone who wants that runway: to learn the Makara system, then run with it.
