Job Description
The Dermatology sales force is primarily responsible for driving demand following potential regulatory approval for the assigned product through education. They are responsible for educating healthcare providers and optimizing business opportunities in targeted physician offices, key clinics and hospital accounts that specialize in Dermatology. The Specialty Business Manager (SBM) will demonstrate excellence in developing and applying business processes that benefit patients and achieve sales goals.
Howyou will contribute
- Support account onboarding through education.
- Engage in clinical selling activities, delivering the clinical value proposition and advancing customers across a brand educational continuum.
- Support initial clinical and patient access education for medical staff.
- Coordinate and support clinical education programs for HCPs, such as peer-to-peer education.
- Conduct account management activities within dermatology practices, clinics and outlets as well as independent physician offices.
- Achieve sales goals by delivering product volume and other key metrics in the assigned territory, using discretion and judgment to execute franchise and company brand strategy.
- Build professional relationships with health-care providers, decision makers and stakeholders to support safe and effective product use.
- Develop and deliver targeted sales messages to HCPs, utilizing marketing materials and discuss therapeutic strategies.
- Execute local marketing strategies, leverage resources, and collaborate with team members to enhance results.
- Present clinical and business information to dermatologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Develop and implement medical education opportunities and sponsor programs to expand knowledge of HCPs.
- Manage allocated resources, including budgets, managed markets, medical affairs and home office.
- Adhere to Takeda compliance policies and demonstrate leadership and integrity.
- Bachelor’s degree – BA/BS.
- 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device; or 2+ years at Takeda.
- Experience calling on dermatologists preferred.
- Business and strategic planning skills, adaptable to changing market conditions.
- Understanding of the managed-care landscape.
- Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Residency within or near the assigned geography.
- Minimum of 5 years’ direct selling experience to healthcare professionals and/or clinical experience.
- Experience calling on dermatologists.
- Experience managing and communicating complex reimbursement issues.
- Position contingent upon passing mandatory product training, including written and oral examinations.
- During training, classified as non-exempt and eligible for overtime, not eligible for incentive programs.
- Training duration approximately 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
- After successful training, transition to exempt status, paid bi-weekly and eligible for incentive programs.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Drive or fly to accounts and meetings; occasional overnight travel up to 25-50% of time.
