Business Development, Client Relationship Manager

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Director, Business Development to join our growing team. The role reports to the SVP, Business Development and is responsible for identifying, developing, and capturing new business opportunities, managing program captures, proposals and strategic planning. The Director will collaborate with senior staff to execute growth strategies, conduct program reviews, assess customer needs, and maintain relationships with customers across commercial, international commercial, and international Ministries of Defense markets.
This position will oversee operational aspects of ongoing projects, coordinate with project management, planning, and engineering teams, review project status and budgets, manage schedules, prepare status reports, and resolve project issues to meet productivity and objectives. The role is preferred to be worked onsite in our Irvine, CA office but remote work is possible for the right candidate with necessary business travel.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proactively cultivate relationships with commercial/international customers and use sales strategies to engage executive, business, and technical decision-makers.
- Foster trust and brand growth across multiple levels of the customer’s organization.
- Incorporate account-based marketing output into the engagement strategy and customer plan.
- Lead strategic campaigns that drive new business growth with commercial and international customers, acting as a liaison and trusted partner.
- Shape requirements, pursue opportunities, and win business with commercial and international customers.
- Promote a culture of business acumen and assist the SVP Business Development in identifying, actively pursuing, and securing new contracts.
- Assist capture teams by providing competitive assessments and crafting win strategies.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of the customer’s business, technology needs, and priorities for each assigned opportunity.
- Identify opportunities to drive optimization and new business and technology solutions based on customer strategies.
- Present solutions and ideas based on customer insights.
- Advocate for the customer internally to ensure their needs are addressed.
- Develop and oversee the execution of account plans using sales and delivery methodology to achieve high-volume sales and forecast alignment.
- Lead diverse, high-performing teams and coordinate with internal industry experts for account planning and execution.
- Coordinate with industry experts to identify new business opportunities and drive account growth.
- Lead extended team collaboration to scale business, create mutual growth interest, and ensure achievement of revenue targets.
- Identify initial stakeholders, customer needs, and priorities.
- Propose initial solutions and sales plays.
- Leverage sales acumen to set action items and drive new business opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of business development activities.
- Experience with commercial and international space-based customers.
- Proven ability to close business deals exceeding $25 million.
- Strong technical acumen of space customers and their requirements.
- Strong programmatic acumen of commercial acquisition processes and intimate knowledge of establishing credibility.
- US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
Applicants must be US citizens or eligible to obtain US citizenship and must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. The position may require a current United States National Security clearance.
BenefitsSalary Range: $160,000 - $200,000 USD.
