Position: Account Manager/Specialty Account Manager - Tavneos - Houston, TX (West)

Account Manager / Specialty Account Manager - Tavneos Live

Territory:
Houston, TX (West). Relocation is not offered for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Complete commercial activities for the assigned geography and establish relationships with customers to drive demand for Tavneos.
  • Engage both live and virtual customer interactions, gaining access to customers in clinic or hospital settings and through digital channels.
  • Develop a comprehensive territory business plan aimed at achieving and exceeding annual goals set by commercial leadership.
  • Engage all partners around the patient ecosystem—caregivers, healthcare professionals, case managers, nurses, infusion centers—in multiple settings of care (hospital, clinic, etc.).
  • Collaborate across corporate functions (MSLs, TLLs, Field Access Team, supporting sales teams).
  • Build referral networks to existing centers of excellence and establish new treatment Centers of Excellence.
  • Build and maintain long‑term relationships with stakeholders and senior decision‑makers to advance business partnerships.
  • Raise broader disease awareness beyond the expert group, including patients and general practitioners.
  • Identify drivers and barriers and coordinate pull‑through initiatives across field teams.
  • Provide actionable field intelligence and recommendations to Amgen headquarters.
  • Partner closely with Market Access Team and Account Executives in shared accounts.
  • Promote Tavneos within approved labeling in a comprehensive, fair and ethical manner consistent with industry‑specific and corporate legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Serve as a resource/consultant regarding payer policies and processes (eligibility, benefit verification, prior‑authorization, appeals/denials).
  • Improve use of marketing resources to support customer relationships and build prescribing confidence for appropriate patients.
  • Communicate territory activity accurately and timely as directed by management.
  • Provide feedback to sales and commercial leadership, marketing colleagues, and other internal departments about environmental changes.
  • Complete all required training classes and administrative duties accurately and timely.
  • Manage efforts within the assigned promotional budget.
  • Attend medical congresses and society meetings as needed.
  • Ensure timely access for patients through patient services and savings programs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Account Manager – Level 4:
    • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of sales experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device industry, or hospital sales; or
    • Associate degree and 6 years of sales experience; or
    • High school diploma/GED and 8 years of sales experience.
  • Specialty Account Manager – Level 5:
    • Doctorate degree and 2 years of collective account management, sales and commercial experience; or
    • Master’s degree and 6 years of collective account management, sales and commercial experience; or
    • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of collective account management, sales and commercial experience; or
    • Associate degree and 10 years of collective account management, sales and commercial experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated sales experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device industry, with experience supporting immunology, nephrology, rheumatology, pulmonology or ophthalmology products.
  • Consistent track record of access creation in managed markets.
  • Working knowledge of geography and existing key customer relationships.
  • Experience developing and implementing critical initiatives with cross‑functional business units that enable access and demand creation in key accounts.
  • Experience working with Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), HOPE MSLs, medical platform or policy development and opinion leader engagement.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience with executive‑level audiences.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated initiative, energy, enthusiasm and teamwork.
Benefits & Salary
  • Expected annual salary range:
    Account Manager – Level 4: $145,311 – $196,597;
    Specialty Account Manager – Level 5: $158,931 – $215,025.
